1977 CB750 F2 Cafe Project

October 21st, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

I have decided that I need another hobby outside of work and computers. So as I have always liked motorbikes and have wanted to restore one for a long time. The time was right to buy the bike and start the project, so I will be logging the progress and status of the build on this blog.

The start bike is as follows:

    Goodluck.

The good old Universal Japanese Motorcycle (UJM) looks great. It looks to be fairly clean example.

    Was it running?

Are you intending to chop the frame or just rebuild the bike?

I am trying to avoid a full rebuild with my bike at the moment, but if the rings prove to be stuffed, I will move down that path. Still determining what is good at the moment and fixing up each problem as I see it.

I will follow your project with interest.

Make sure you get a good manual.

    Warm regards

    Matthew

The bike was running, however not that well there was serious knocking noise at idle, that either disapeared when reved or the engine noise just covered it.

I had not planned to do a full rebuild, but as i started to pull parts off i just found issues, so decided to bite the bullet go the whole way.

Kind of glad i did as i found quite a few nuts just finger tight on the cam and the cam chain tensioner was stuffed (the idle noise).

So i’ve got bit further on the engine and will post more when i’m back home, currently interstate with work.

But yes the plan is to remove all the lugs from the frame, powder coat, new seat and clip on bars.

    Cheers
    Dan
